Our County Council Candidates

Julie is proud to serve the people of Whitewell and Stacksteads as a Rossendale Borough Councillor — and she’s now standing as your Green Party candidate for Rossendale East in the Lancashire County Council elections on 1st May 2025.

A Rossendale resident for over 20 years, Julie raised her family here and continues to give back to the community she loves. Her children attended Water Primary School, where she still serves as a dedicated member of the Board of Governors.

Before stepping into local politics, Julie enjoyed a successful career as a university lecturer in law, specialising in Environmental Law — a field she holds a Master’s degree in and remains deeply passionate about. That passion now powers her work both in the council chamber and across the community.

You’ll often see Julie out and about in the ward — talking with residents, listening to concerns, and taking real action on the things that matter most. She’s widely recognised for being approachable, proactive, and unwavering in her commitment to social justice and environmental sustainability.

As a founding director of Rossendale Valley Energy, Julie is helping lead the charge on community energy projects that fight fuel poverty and lower carbon emissions — building a cleaner, greener, and fairer future for everyone in Rossendale.

John proudly represents the people of Whitewell and Stacksteads as a Green Party councillor — and now he’s standing as your Green Party candidate for Rossendale South in the upcoming Lancashire County Council elections.

With decades of hands-on experience and a lifelong commitment to environmental action, John brings integrity, energy, and practical know-how to local politics.

Originally from Essex, John made Lumb his home back in 1990, where he lives with his wife, Jill. Together, they’ve raised two children locally, and John has remained closely involved in local education — serving as a parent governor at Water Primary School and regularly volunteering at high school university prep events.

Professionally, John has a background in manufacturing, specialising in innovative products like textile treatments and insulation materials. Now semi-retired, he runs a consultancy business focused on eliminating harmful “forever chemicals” from firefighting foams — reflecting his deep drive to protect people’s health and our natural environment.

John is a familiar face in both local and national Green politics. He stood as the Green Party candidate in the 2017 General Election and has contested several local elections. His mission? Real, practical change that puts people and the planet first.

As a councillor, John is known for getting things done — tackling issues like flooding, dangerous traffic speeds, housing, and access to green spaces, all while championing sustainability and long-term thinking.

Bob Bauld is a passionate voice for change in Rossendale — working tirelessly for a fairer, greener future. He currently represents the Whitewell and Stacksteads Ward on Rossendale Borough Council and stood as the Green Party’s parliamentary candidate for Rossendale & Darwen in the last General Election. Now, he’s standing as your Green Party candidate for Mid Rossendale in the Lancashire County Council elections on 1st May 2025.

Bob brings energy, leadership, and a genuine belief in the power of people to change politics for the better. With campaigning experience in both England and Scotland, he’s a seasoned grassroots activist who stands up for people, not party interests.

Like many, Bob is fed up with the broken promises, political spin, and scandals that have shaken public trust. That’s why he’s committed to doing things differently — rebuilding trust and putting communities at the heart of decision-making.

A strong advocate for a Green New Deal, Bob is campaigning to:

  • Invest in green industries
  • Create well-paid local jobs
  • Tackle the cost-of-living crisis
  • Protect and restore our natural environment

Whether on the council or out on the campaign trail, Bob is working for a cleaner, fairer, more hopeful Rossendale — where no one is left behind, and where action matches the urgency of the challenges we face.
